China's Graduate Schools Support Development of Western Region

The presidents of 33 Chinese graduate schools recently issued a joint proposal announcing their support of graduate education in the country's western region.

According to the proposal, these schools will join hands to help the western region develop its graduate education.

As members of the Chinese Graduate School Presidents Association, all 33 schools are responsible for training high- level talent for western areas, the proposal says.

These graduate schools will send their graduate students, supervisors and presidents to the western region to reinforce academic exchanges and scientific cooperation with them.

Teachers and graduate education management personnel also will take office at graduate schools in the western region, and provide training courses for high school teachers.

To achieve these goals, the graduate schools in relatively well- off areas in eastern China are asked to provide support and aid to their counterparts in the western region.
