Chinese Finance Minister Starts Working Visit to Cuba

China's Finance Minister Xiang Huaicheng started Thursday a working visit to this Antilles island country.

Xiang Huaicheng was welcomed Wednesday night by his Cuban counterpart and host, Manuel Millares, at the "Jose Marti " International Airport, where he stated to the press his desire of "tightening the historical relations between our countries to consolidate the bilateral exchanges."

He also said that it is an honor to arrive in Cuba in this moment, given the importance of the economic results obtained by the biggest of the Antilles islands in the last years.

The visitor's tight working agenda includes interviews with Vice President Carlos Lage, and with the ministers of the Central Bank of Cuba, Francisco Soberon, of Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration, Martha Lomas, and of Informatics and Communications, Ignacio Gonzalez.

The Chinese finance minister will tour the Varadero tourist installations, located some 130 kilometers east of Havana, as well as other centers of tourist and economic interest, before leaving Cuba Saturday.
