China to Host International Air Show

China will host an international air show November 6-12 in the city of Zhuhai in south China, sponsors announced at a press conference here today. During the China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition '2000, around 50 world-renowned manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus, GE, Russian State Armament Corporation, Samsung, and Embraer, will take part.

They will display their plane models, engines and other aviation equipment. At the same time, the "August 1" aerobatics team from the Chinese Air Force, the helicopter team of the army, the Russian "Warriors" and aerobatics teams of FAI will make demonstration flights.

China hopes to demonstrate the strength of its aviation industry, and at the same time seek projects with foreign partners at the show.

The show is sponsored by the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, China Aviation Industry Corporation I, China Aviation Industry Corporation II, and others. Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo is the chairman of the Air Show Organizing Committee.

Zhuhai held two similar air shows in 1996 and 1998, attracting more than 700,000 people. This year, the show is expected to be much larger, said mayor Huang Longyun.
