Premier Congratulates Kasyanov on Confirmation as Russian PM
Premier Zhu Rongji on Wednesday sent a telegram to Mikhail Kasyanov, congratulating him on his confirmation as Russia's new prime minister by the country's parliament.
Zhu said in the telegram that it is our lofty goal to strengthen and deepen the good-neighborly and friendly relationship between China and Russia and that it conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries to further develop and expand the mutually-beneficial cooperation between them.
It will also do good to the peace cause of humankind for China and Russia to push forward and strengthen their strategic coordination, Zhu added.
The Chinese premier also expressed his hope to work with Kasyanov to enhance bilateral cooperation to benefit the two countries and two peoples.
The Russian State Duma, or parliament, on Wednesday confirmed Kasyanov as the country's new prime minister.
