PLA Chief of General Staff Meets Thai Guests

Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Wednesday with Surayut Chulanont, army commander-in-chief of Thailand and his party.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that he is satisfied with the development of the friendly cooperation between the two armed forces.

He noted that the two armed forces have conducted friendly exchanges at different levels and areas, adding that these exchanges have produced a positive impact on the further development of bilateral ties and safety in the region. Fu said that he hopes the two sides will continue to develop close, friendly and cooperative relations between the two armed forces within the overall framework of relations between the two countries.

Fu also briefed the guests on China's domestic situation, military building, and the Chinese government's principled position on the Taiwan issue.

He told the guests that the PLA is closely watching the changes and development in the Taiwan Straits, and is fully prepared to make new contributions for the security, stability, development and reunification of the motherland.

Surayut said that his China tour has been fruitful. The Thai guests are here for an official visit to China at the invitation of the PLA Headquarters of General Staff.
