China's International Payment Sheets Balanced

Both China's current and capital accounts reported a payment surplus in 1999, according to statistics released on May 17 by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

Last year's current and capital accounts surplus were US$15.667 billion and 7.642 billion respectively, according to the payment sheet.

Promoted by the double surpluses, China's foreign exchange reserves continued to increase and stood at US$154.675 billion at the end of 1999.
