Beijing Railway Police Arrest Gun-trafficker

Beijing railway police have arrested a group of four suspects involved in gun trafficking in the Chinese capital, a railway police spokesman said in Beijing Tuesday.

Chen Yuquan, 23, from Santai County of southeast China's Sichuan Province, was apprehended May 12 by railway police who received a call from passengers at the Beijing West Railway alarmed by Chen's suspicious behavior, the spokesman said.

According to police, Chen was trying to sell a gun and more than 100 bullets at the ticket hall of the west railway station just before noon.

Chen confessed that he had sold two guns to a Beijing resident named Jin Jian, who was wanted by police for his involvement in a shooting at a restaurant in Beijing in March. Jin fled the scene, but was nabbed by city police at his home on May 14.

Jin's confession led to the arrest of two other suspects involved in the incident.

The restaurant shooting remains under investigation.
