Museums Flourishing in Beijing

In recent years, museum building has been developing rapidly in Beijing, up to now there are already 112 registered ones in the city, amounting to 6.1 percent of the total number across China, with over 2 million pieces of cultural relics and art works collected.

Beijing, a city of more than 3000 years of history, possesses rich historical and cultural relics. In recent years, more and more organizations and industries put their funds into museum building. In 1999, as much as 6 newly established museums opened to the society, namely, the Lao She Museum, the Museum of Beijing Folk Custom, the Padauk Museum of China, the Museum of Aeronautics and Astronuatics, the BaoLi Art Museum, and the Museum of Arts and Crafts. Most of them are funded by large or medium-sized enterprises. This is not only contribute to the cultural and ideological progress of Beijing, but also play an important role in promoting enterprise culture.
