ABAC Meeting Opens in Beijing

The Business Advisory Council (ABAC) under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) held its second meeting of the year Thursday.

Over 100 representatives from 21 APEC members attended the meeting.

The meeting will continue discussion on APEC's path in the face of globalization, the theme of its first meeting in Thailand, and discuss a range of topics including building a more reliable financial system, enhancing technological development and application, and increasing business facilities in the Asia- Pacific region.

The ABAC, a permanent organ of APEC, started in 1995 to provide APEC with suggestions on trade and investment liberalization, economic and technological cooperation and creation of a favorable business environment.

This is the first time for China to hold ABAC meetings.
