Premier Meets UN Official and Japanese Guest

Premier Zhu Rongji met in Beijing Monday afternoon with Theo-Ben Gurirab, president of the 54th United Nations General Assembly, who is in China as guest of Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan.

Meanwhile, Zhu also met with the secretaries-general of the three coalition parties of the Japanese government in Beijing Monday.

Hiromu Nonaka of the Liberal Democratic Party, Tetsuzo Fuyushiba of the New Komeito Party, and Takeshi Noda of the New Conservative Party, and their parties arrived in China early Monday for a two-day goodwill visit at the invitation of the Chinese government.

The three secretaries-general are paying the visit on behalf of Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori.
