Magazine on Human Rights to Start Publication in China

A magazine entitled "Human Rights", sponsored by the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS), will start publication soon.

Zhou Jue, the newly elected president of CSHRS, said that the magazine aims to promote the study of human rights, create public awareness on human rights and enhance the exchanges with other countries and regions on issues pertaining to human rights.

Zhou made these remarks at the first session of the Second National Executive Council of CSHRS which concluded Tuesday in Beijing.

This year the society will focus its work on the study of the relationship between human rights and sovereignty, publicizing the Chinese government's position on human rights.

CSHRS was founded in January 1993 and is the largest national academic organization on human rights in China.
