Forty-Six Chinese Cities Praised for Environmental Protection

Suzhou, Guilin, Qingdao and seven coastal cities have made China' s top ten list of cities making efforts to protect and clean the environment.

An official from the State Environmental Protection Administration says the listing is based on the environmental quality and management, and pollution control in over 40 key Chinese cities last year.

South China's Shenzhen received the highest mark among the top 10 cities.

And the bottom four out of all 40 cities are Chongqing, Xining, Taiyuan and Urumqi, which are among the country's most polluted cities.
