Shanghai Invests 10 Billion Yuan in Environmental Construction
In recent years, Shanghai has continuously put more investment into environmental construction, as a result, its city environmental quality has kept improving. Last year, it invested as much as 11.16 billion yuan in the environmental construction.
These investments mainly went to control of old polluters, new environmental protection projects, construction of city infrastructure and environmental improvement of major regions.
Shanghai has maintained a rapid, two-digit economic growth, while at the same time, the discharge of industrial pollutants has been brought under effective control. Last year, the city invested 587 million yuan to treat its old industrial polluters. At present, 81.2 percent of the industrial enterprises have met the set standard in regard to emission and the rest will all meet the standard in this October.
The energy structural adjustment of the city also plays an active role in improving the air quality.
