US Senate Urged to Settle China's PNTR Issue

China expressed the hope that the US Senate should take a wise move to settle China's permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) issue at an early date.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Thursday that an early settlement of the issue would help promote a smooth and healthy development of economic and trade relations between the two countries, and is beneficial to both.

Many people with insight in the United States are also calling for an early settlement of the issue following the recent passage in the House of Representatives of a relevant bill, according to the spokeswoman.
