NPC Chairman Hold Talks with Yugoslav Leaders


Li Peng Hold Talks with Yugoslav leaders
NPC Chairman Li Peng met with the president of the Chamber of Citizens, Milomir Minic, and the president of the Chamber of Republics, Srdjan Bozovic Monday in Belgrade.

Bozovic said the Yugoslav parliament supports the one-China principle and appreciates China's stance against Taiwan independence.

Li said the sovereignty of one country cannot be violated, and China opposes the practice of using human rights as a pretext to interfere in internal affairs of other countries.

Li urged more co-operation between the Chinese and Yugoslav parliaments.


Li Peng Meets Milosevic
Monday afternoon, Li met Milan Milutinovic, president of Republic of Serbia.

Late Monday, Li was holding talks with Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic who visited China in 1997 and with President Jiang Zemin signed a statement on bilateral friendship and co-operation.
