Botswana President Leaves for Chengdu

President Festus Mogae of Botswana left Beijing for Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province in southwest China, this afternoon to continue his China tour.

Mogae arrived in Beijing on June 12 to start his state visit at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin. During his stay in Beijing, Mogae held separate meetings with President Jiang Zemin and Premier Zhu Rongji, and exchanged views with them on bilateral relations and both regional and international issues of common concern. The two sides have signed four cooperative agreements.

Apart from Beijing and Chengdu, President Mogae and his party will also visit Guangzhou city in south China's Guangdong Province.
