China Not Recognize Naka As Sovereign State

"The Chinese government does not recognize Naka as a sovereign state, nor the legitimacy of its 'parliamentary election'," a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman stated Monday.

The Chinese government "respects the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan," Zhu Bangzao, the spokesman, added.

When commenting on a so-called parliamentary election recently held in Nagorno-Karabakh of Azerbaijan, Zhu said "China supports the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council on the conflicts in Nagorno-Karabakh of Azerbaijan," adding that "China is willing to make unremitting efforts, together with the international community, for a peaceful settlement of the conflicts in the area."
