Henan Builds Largest Ports Network in China's Hinterland

Central China's Henan Province has taken the lead among China's hinterland regions in establishing an air-land transportation system to offer more business opportunities.

Henan has 11 customs ports since its first airport, Zhengzhou Airport, was built in 1988.

The province has authorized 12 more custom check points for enterprises in some cities including Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Luohe, Xinxiang, Jiaozuo, Pingdingshan, Hebi, and Kaifeng.

By the end of 1999, Henan Province exported and imported some 2. 5 million tons of cargo and received more than 400,000 tourists from over 60 countries and regions.

Provincial officials believe Henan's customs check points will play a more important role in China's foreign trade.
