New Vistas Opened Up Before China's Postal Service

After the separation of postal service from telecommunication, China's postal service has further developed cooperative relationships with those of important countries and opened up a new prospect in international cooperation, as is known from the national conference on postal foreign service held in Shanghai Tuesday.

Last year China successfully hosted the 22nd Universal Postal Congress (UPC), which has raised the international status of China postal service and strengthened its ties with other countries in providing postal services. China's postal service has signed 10 bilateral agreements with America, Brazil, Canada, Germany, and Russia concerning management, business cooperation, personnel training and technical exchanges.

China's cooperation with foreign countries has started in a substantial manner. An agreement with the Netherlands' TNT Group has been reached and cooperation has been realized in express delivery from February 1st this year. Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou have conducted timely delivery service of express mails together with Hong Kong and Singapore, raising the competitiveness of China's postal service. This May, cooperation with America on priority mails opened in nearly 200 cities, covering 18 countries and regions such as West Europe, North America and Southeast Asia.
