Corrupt Publisher Sentenced to Death

The Beijing No. 1 Intermediate People's Court Thursday sentenced the former deputy director of a publishing house to death on charges of accepting bribes worth 3. 27 million yuan.

Ju Jiantai, former deputy director of the Dangdai World Publishing House, was also stripped of his political rights for life. All of his personal property will be confiscated, according to the court ruling.

The court said that Ju, 56, accepted bribes totaling 400,000 U. S. dollars from a foreign businessman for intentionally leaking secrets to him in 1993.
