Chinese Army Forms First Team of Flying Doctors

A newly-formed squad of flying doctors of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) was airdropped for the first time in a recent military exercise.

The successful drill marks a new step forward in the development of the PLA's airborne medical services, according to PLA sources.

In the initial phase of the activity, dozens of medical staff with medical equipment and small transport vehicles were dropped aground an airport, and ten minutes later, a simple field clinic was set up and medical treatment began.

Then 30 minutes later, three aircraft carrying a team of doctors and more sophisticated medical equipment landed. A multifunctional field clinic soon appeared, with different wards of "injured" soldiers housed in various tents.

Computers were involved in the activity, giving doctors the opportunity to consult with colleagues at rear hospitals afar about treatment for severe injuries.
