China Hopes to Have Good Cooperation With FISU

Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing Wednesday told George Killian, president of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), that China hopes to have good cooperation with the FISU and make the 21st Summer Universiade a success.

Li made the remarks in a meeting the president. Killian, who is on an inspection tour in Beijing, said the Chinese capital has made "surprisingly good" preparation for the Universiade, which is scheduled to be convened here in August next year.

He also expressed confidence in the success of the 2001 Summer Universiade.

Beijing Mayor Liu Qi and Director of the State General Administration of Sports Yuan Weimin attended the meeting.
