Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met Monday with a delegation of the People's Army of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) headed by Han Wonhua, deputy commander of the army group of the DPRK.

Chi, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said that the traditional friendship between the people and the armed forces of China and the DPRK is time- tested, and has been growing steadily.

The two armies have maintained close contacts, Chi said. The Chinese side is ready to work with the DPRK side to promote the friendly relations between the two countries and their armed forces.

Han Wonhua said that the DPRK-Chinese friendship has been established by the leaders of the two countries, and the development of the friendly relations between the DPRK and China is in the interest of both sides. The DPRK is ready to make efforts in this regard, he added.
