Shanghai to Build Gene Bank For Ancient Human Bones

Shanghai Natural Museum will team up with Fudan University to build a gene bank for ancient human bones.

Advanced molecular biological technologies will be utilized to draw DNA from the ancient human bones unearthed across China since liberation and preserve them in the bank.

Chen Zhu, chief director of the National Human Genome South Research Center, which has agreed to offer technological and financial support for the plan, said this action will be of great significance.

"People can learn more precisely about the evolution process of mankind in China with the help of the direct genetic evidence, " Chen said.
