Hong Kong to Send Team to Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games

Hong Kong will organize a twenty-seven member team to participate in the 12th Paralympic Games to be held in Sydney this October.

The team will participate in six events at the games: swimming, track and field, fencing, ping-pong, archery, and shooting. The Hong Kong team has the best shot at winning a medal in track and field, fencing and ping-pong.

In the last Paralympic Games held in Atlanta, Hong Kong won totally fifteen gold, silver and copper medals.

Zhou Yiyue, chairman of China Hong Kong Sports Association for the Disabled, said that there will be 125 countries attending the Sydney Paralympics and Hong Kong team is confident it can do better than it did in Atlanta.
