Fujian to Build Two More Railroads Linking Neighboring Provinces
A Fujian Province railroad department has said that another two cross-provincial railroads, GanLong (Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province to Longyan, Fujian Province)and WenFu (Wenzhou, Zhejian Province to Fuzhou, capital city of Fujian), will be built. The blueprint designs for the two lines have already been confirmed.
The GanLong railroad spans more than 277 kilometers and is expected to cost 6.1 billion yuan. The part in Fujian Province is 157 kilometers long and will cost 3.8 billion yuan. The line starts from Ganzhou and will pass Yudu, Huichang, Ruijin of Jiangxi province, Changting, Liancheng of Fujian province, and ends in Longyan, Fujian. The entire project is expected to be completed by December, 2004.
The Wenfu railway begins from Wenzhou, Zhejiang and will pass through Mindong, Fuding, Xiapu, Ningde, Luoyuan, Lianjiang and ends in Fuzhou, Fujian. The entire railroad is more than 324 kilometers long and its estimated cost is 8 billion yuan. This project will be a joint venture between Fujian and Zhejiang provinces. They will start work on the project in 2002.
