HK Residents to Be Allowed to Stay in Macao for One Year

The maximum of Hong Kong Residents' stay in Macao each time will be extended from the current 90 days to one year, according to a decision passed Friday by the Executive Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Tong Chi Kin, spokesman for the executive council, told the media that there has been a close relationship between Hong Kong and Macao residents. A longer stay in Macao would make Hong Kong residents enjoy more convenience in doing business, making tours, visiting relatives and friends and residing in Macao.

In the meantime, any other people who are granted a time limit of 20 days may stay in Macao for 30 days each time.

Tong Chi Kin said the decision would go into effect as soon as a relevant decree is revised.
