HK Residents Allowed to Stay in Macao for One Year

The maximum of Hong Kong Residents' stay in Macao each time has been extended from original 90 days to one year, according to a government decree coming into effect Tuesday.

In the meantime, any other people who are granted a time limit of 20 days may stay in Macao for as many as 30 days each time, according to the decree carried in the latest gazette of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government.

There has been a close relationship between Hong Kong and Macao residents. A longer stay in Macao will make Hong Kong residents enjoy more convenience in doing business, making tours, visiting relatives and friends and residing in Macao, government sources said.

In the first half of this year, the number of passengers coming from Hong Kong accounted for 54 percent of the total, official statistics show.
