Chinese Province Enlists University Graduates

The People's Liberation Army troops stationed in the island province of Hainan has enlisted a record number of 104 university graduates.

The students, including three girls, were selected from 37 universities in central and south China, sources said.

The move is expected to improve the cultural and scientific background of the troops in the frontier region, as Chinese army leaders believe that high-tech will play a vital role in future battles.

Hainan, on the South China Sea, is one of China's most important military bases.

The students will receive strict training in a special team, the sources revealed.
