Deputy Head of Haikou City Procuratorate Arrested

Wang Dewei, deputy chief procurator of Haikou City Procuratorate in south China's Hainan Province, was recently arrested on corruption charges.

Also arrested were four other people who worked under Wang, on similar charges. The warrants of the arrest were issued by Hainan Provincial Procuratorate, said local sources.

Investigators found that after obtaining illegal personal gains, Wang and his collaborators refused to lodge public prosecution against or issue warrants of arrest on criminal suspects when evidences were adequate.

The five were also charged of violating the law in deciding arraignment and changing the nature of some legal cases, said the sources.
