Man's Fingers Sewn Back On

A hospital in Nanning, capital city of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has successfully sewn back eight fingers of a patient recently.

The patient, 24 year old Huang Wei, will leave hospital in a week. Huang had all but his thumbs cut off by a paper cutter on July 30.

He was rushed to the No.1 Hospital attached to the Guangxi Medical University where 12 doctors and nurses replanted the fingers.

Chief surgeon of the operation Doctor Zhao Jinmin said that with the help of microscopes, they tried their best to reconnect blood vessels, muscles nerves, bones and tendons in the shortest possible time. The surgery took eight hours.
