Hong Kong Residents Satisfied with PLA Garrison

On August 1, the Army Day, Hong Kong residents expressed their gratitude and appreciation to PLA garrison troops in Hong Kong.

The garrison troops have been strictly following HKSAR's Basic Law and Garrison Law and other related laws and regulations in protection of Hong Kong since they were sent on guard in the last three years. They have stood up to all tests, having proved their true worth under various complicated austere situations and as "a civilized army" they have impressed Hong Kong residents deeply. A poll indicates that over 93% HK residents are satisfied with this garrison force of the PLA.

Regarding defense of Hong Kong as their sacred duty, all fighters of the garrison force have well attended to their work in safeguarding public security, helping in disaster relief and protection of the country's sea territory and inviolability of air space in Hong Kong. They have four times opened barracks to greet their compatriots in Hong Kong.

An active part has already been played by PLA garrison forces in various activities as of promoting social welfare and environment and of wildlife protection in Hong Kong. As reported, they have for three times donated blood to the Hong Kong Red Cross, to a total of over 400,000ml.

The PLA garrison forces have by their good deeds won local people's hearts and in return for this are deep feelings expressed by Hong Kong residents to this garrison force of theirs.
