FM Spokesman on Sino-African Cooperation Forum

Beijing is to host the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, a ministerial-level meeting from October 10 to 12 this year, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhu Bangzao announced Friday on behalf of the Chinese government.

Zhu said the forum, proposed by China and some African countries, is aimed to further enhance consultation and cooperation between China and African countries.

Ministers from African countries and representatives from some international and regional organizations will participate in the conference, he said.

Under the principles of equal consultation, increasing understanding, widening consensus, strengthening friendship and promoting cooperation, the participants will exchange views on two major topics -- the establishment of a just and rational new international political and economic order and the strengthening of cooperation between China and African countries in the economic and trade sectors, Zhu said.
