All Ethnic Groups in China Have Writers of Their Own

Statistics show that there are at present in China as many as 678 writers of minority nationalities in Chinese Writers Union, taking 11.1% of the Union's total. By now, the 56 ethnic groups in China all have writers of their own.

Writers groups and literature of high artistic value have appeared in some minority ethnic groups, putting to an end to the history that most minority nationalities have no writers and written literature of their own.

By now, a stable translation staff has basically formed in China, said Jidi Majia, secretary of the secretariat of Chinese Writers Union. Therefore readers of minority nationalities, through their own languages, can widely and conveniently appreciate literary works of other nationalities and those of foreign countries. Meanwhile, Han readers can also read literary works by writers with a minority ethnic origin.
