Chinese Students Enjoy Cheap Air Fares to US

Chinese students, taking flights of the United Airlines to the US during August 1- November 31, will enjoy a 60 percent discount on airfares to the US

However, the discounted fare is only from Shanghai and students must have a valid student ID, an official with the airlines said.

Those students will also receive an additional 5,000 bonus miles after their first flight and extra 10-kg baggage allowance, he said.

Official statistics indicate that over 25,000 Chinese students go abroad on their own expenses every year. This figure excludes those funded by the state. The United States has become the most attractive country for most students.

United Airlines, the largest US airlines, opened its first air route from San Francisco to Shanghai in China in 1986 offering a Shanghai-San Francisco non-stop daily flight in March this year as well as a Beijing-San Francisco non-stop flight in June.
