Pearl River Delta City's External Trade Booming

Dongguan City in south China's Guangdong Province has seen a big surge in its import and export trade, standing among leading large and medium-sized cities in external trade in China.

In the first half of this year, the city's import and export value amounted to US$ 14.99 billion, accounting for 19.1 percent of the province.

Of the total, exports increased 29.4 percent from a year earlier to US$ 7.92 billion.

The city's general trade exports reached US$ 81.9 million in the six months, a rise of 31.6 percent year on year and much higher than its processing trade exports.

The major export destinations of goods from Dongguan are the United States, Hong Kong, European Union countries and Japan, with export values standing at US$ 2.8, 2.11, 1.2 and 0.62 billion, respectively.

Meanwhile, the city introduced 594 new industrial projects involving overseas investment, and actually used a total foreign investment of US$ 780 million in the January-June period.
