Boon for Patients Suffering Penis Deformity, Damage

A Chinese medical professor from central China's Hubei Province has successfully treated 1,593 men, including 36 foreigners, suffering from penis deformity and damage over the past 15 years and helped them regain their sexual virility through surgical procedure developed by him.

Long Daochou, professor with the Plastic Surgery Department of Hubei Provincial People's Hospital, explained the key part of his surgical procedure is to prolong the spongiose part of the male urethra by cutting the suspensory ligament to keep normal blood vessels and nerves function so that the penis can have feeling and respond normally upon sexual arousal.

Long has initiated 11 national training courses to inform other medical professionals about his surgical technique and was invited to give lectures about it in several countries including Japan, the United States and Canada in the past 15 years.

Fifteen medical doctors from overseas visited Long to study his surgical technique, which won first prize for scientific progress in Hubei Province last year.

The group of medical specialists believe that with Long's technique an operation dealing with penis deformity or damage is safe and easy to popularize, and patients spend less and suffer less, and so far Long's technique is the best method of doing this. The technique is also named after Long.

For his work in this area, Long was recently given the second state prize along with 27 other items of technologies and inventions for scientific progress and inventions in China.
