Sichuan Airlines Buys Brazilian Planes

Sichuan Airlines, based in Chengdu, capital of southwestern China's Sichuan Province, has become first Chinese user of five Brazil-produced regional aircraft.

The 44-seat RJ145 aircraft uses the AE3007 engine, which was developed by Rolls-Royce and put into use in 1996.

According to Brazil Aviation Industry Corporation, the producer of RJ145, China has become one of its major markets and it is confident of developing better cooperation with Chinese companies in the future.

The company produces small and medium-sized airplanes with 37 to 108 seats, suitable for short-distance flights.

Sichuan Airlines hopes to attract more foreign investment and help improve the aviation industry in the country's central and western regions, said president Lan Xinguo.
