Hyundai,DPRK Reach Agreements

Chung Mong-hun, chairman of Hyundai-Asan Corporation, seems to have succeeded in extracting various agreements from DPRK leader Kim Jong-il during his recent visit to DPRK.

Hyundai is to develop a specialized tour from Seoul, South Korea to Kaesung, DPRK. Thhe tour will consist of a one-day bus trip with stops at famous historic sites. The tour will allow participants to view some of Korea's most beautiful scenery, including Sunjook Bridge, Parkyeon waterfalls and Manwol tower.

In order to have the tour to Kaesung up an drunning within the year, Hyundai plans to complete s feasibility study by the end of August.

Chung and Kim also reached an agreement regarding a large-scale west coast industrial complex to be built in Kaesung. The Kaesung area is to be upgraded to a special economic zone.

Chung's visit also freed the way for Korean and Japanese nationals living abroad who wished to participate in the tour. Previouly, Koreans and Japanese nationals living abroad were not allowed to participate in the Mt.Kumkang tour. The two also agreed to expand the tour to include Naekeum Kang.
