Chinese Premier to Visit Japan from October 12 to 17: Reports

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji will visit Japan from October 12 to 17, reports said Saturday in Tokyo.

Zhu's visit was discussed in a meeting Friday between Chinese Ambassador to Japan Chen Jian and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP)'s Secretary General Hiromu Nonaka, the Yomiuri Shimbun and the Nihon Keizai Shimbun said.

Chen and Nonaka discussed setting up a hotline for Zhu and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun said.

The LDP leader also suggested China, Japan and South Korea work together to tackle environmental problems such as air pollution and desertification of farmland, it said.
