China to Hold Crystal Festival

The Sixth China Donghai Crystal Festival is scheduled for September 28-30 in Donghai, a coastal county in Jiangsu Province, east China.

Displays of domestic and foreign crystal products as well as trade and investment talks are to be held during the three-day festival.

Crystal producers and dealers from France, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan and several other countries will participate in the event, according to festival organizers.

Donghai's reserves of crystals and quartz accounts for more than half of the country's total. The county government has decided to build a national research, development and processing center with global market appeal.

The county now has hundreds of firms engaged in mining, production and processing.

Business people from countries such as Germany, France, and Japan have also been engaged in crystal processing in the county.

The biennial festival was initiated in 1990 and has since attracted an increasing number of crystal traders and handicraft fans from around the world.
