President Jiang Zemin arrived in New York Monday evening to attend the Millennium Summit to be held at the United Nations headquarters on September 6-8.

More than 150 heads of state or government from around the world will participate in the summit meeting, the largest-ever in the UN history, to discuss the challenges the world faces and the actions to be taken in the new century.

President Jiang will deliver a speech on China's stand on major issues at a plenary session and take part in a UN Security Council summit and one of the four roundtable discussions. He will also meet with the leaders of some countries during the meeting.
