Typhoon to Hit Hainan Island

China's 16th tropical storm for the year, Typhoon "Wukong", is reaching China's island province of Hainan at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.

Chinese Central Meteorological Station (CCMS) Friday raised the alarm of the pending typhoon.

According to the CCMS, the typhoon was centralized at 18.8 degrees north latitude and 113.4 degrees east longitude at 2 p.m. Beijing Time.

Under the influence of the typhoon, strong gale and rain storms will hit South China Sea and the coastal area of south China's Guangdong Province from tonight to tomorrow.

Hainan provincial government has announced the state of emergency and has made all necessary preparations.
