Top Chinese Journalists Get Awards

The selection of journalists for three national awards issued by the All-China Journalists Association (ACJA) came to an end Tuesday, with 121 people getting prizes.

Of the 121, 10 reporters received Fourth Fan Changjiang Journalism Awards; 10 editors won the Fourth Taofen Journalism Awards; and the other 101 were named on the list of Top 100 Journalists.

The Fan Changjiang Journalism Award, a prize for middle-age and young journalists, is named after a Chinese journalist known for his bold and objective coverage of the Chinese Revolution led by the Communist Party of China against the Kuomintang regime.

The Taofen award was set up by the China Taofen Fund in memory of a Chinese reporter who spent his life fighting feudalism in the early 20th century.

And the awards for Top 100 Journalists go to those who are engaged in different jobs in the media.

Beginning in 2000, the ACJA will issue the three awards simultaneously every two years.
