The "0rient University Town" opened today in the Langfang Development Zone in north China's Hebei Province.

Almost 10,000 students from a dozen universities in Beijing will receive higher education in the town, according to a local education official.

The town has been designed to establish a comprehensive education system and provide various specialties of higher education, long-distance education and information education.

The construction of the town started in September last year by the Beijing-based Foreign Enterprises Service Corporation (FESCO).

The town covers an area of 570,000 square meters and includes diversified colleges and institutes as well as such facilities as teaching buildings, a library, a gymnasium, dormitories and an education development center.

The town will be a model for China's joint management between enterprises and universities on higher education, the official said.
