Campaign Cracks Down on Women, Kids Trafficking
A six-month campaign against human trafficking across China has rescued over 110,000 women and 13,000 children who were abducted.
Sixty-five local public security departments have been given awards lately for their achievements in the crackdown since April on the trafficking of women and children, according to today's China Daily.
Women who have been abducted are often sold for marriage or into prostitution, and children are often sold to childless couples.
Jia Chunwang, Minister of Public Security, said new technology and tougher measures had been used in the campaign.
The police has set up a nationwide database of people traders and abducted women and children, he said.
The Ministry has also established a DNA database of parents whose children have been missing. The data has been a good help for the campaign.
