South China to Launch Anti-Smuggling Campaign

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China bordering Viet Nam will launch a campaign

against small-scaled smuggling in the border area.

Zhang Wenxue, vice-governor of the autonomous region, made the remark when deploying anti-smuggling work today in Nanning, capital city of the region.

Zhang said small smuggling has not yet been put down in Guangxi.

Some smugglers shifted to smaller wharves without customs.

Illegal trading of product oil has been found on the sea waters at the Beibuwan Bay after the summer fishing ban was lifted.

Sporadic smuggling of sugar was also found increasing in the western border area.

Zhang said the forthcoming campaign will focus on these smuggling activities.
