Overseas Chinese Worldwide Forum 2000 Closes

The Overseas Chinese Worldwide Forum 2000 ended Thursday in the coastal city of Qingdao in eastern China.

Well-known social activists, entrepreneurs, economists and scientists with Chinese origin from over 20 countries and regions attended to two-day forum, along with Chinese officials, entrepreneurs and scholars.

They reviewed China's history, discussed the prospects of China's development against the backdrop of economic globalization, and the opportunities and challenges following China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO).

They also made constructive suggestions on China's economic and scientific development in the 21st century and cooperation among all Chinese around the world.

Guo Dongpo, director of the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs of the State Council, said the forum will contribute to the further development of the Chinese economy and the business of overseas Chinese and foreign citizens of Chinese origin.
