Japan Looking Forward to Chinese Premier's Visit: Japanese FM

Japanese Foreign Minister Yohei Kono said Monday both the Japanese government and people are looking forward to Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji's upcoming visit to Japan in October.

In a meeting with Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Kono expressed his belief that Zhu's visit will play an important role in further developing the neighborly ties between Japan and China in the new century.

Wang is in Japan for talks with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Ryozo Kato on preparations for Zhu's October 12-17 visit.
