Competition Among Newspapers in Beijing Fiercer

Beijing Entertainment Herald, featuring its in-depth reports on entertainment circles, joins in fierce competition among print media in Beijing this week.

The Herald originates from the Drama and Movie News, which had nearly a 20-year history and enjoyed great fame among fashionable entertainers and young readers.

After changing its face to a more modern and attractive one, it wishes to be an influential newspaper nationwide.

Beijing Entertainment Herald provides readers with overall news stories, besides ones on the entertainment industry, like politics, economy, social issues, sports and investment. Chen Lianyi, executive president of the newspaper, said that the newspaper is mainly designed for commuters who go to work every morning.

As the nation's political, economic and cultural center, Beijing is abundant with fastidious readers who are never easily pleased. Dozens of news publications are wrestling for as much of the market share as they can get.
